Energy Technology
Wind, water, the sun, biomass and geothermal energy hold a vast potential for creating jobs, for the building up of a sustainable energy supply, for protection of natural resources and the climate. The aspired increase of the portion, that renewable energy should have in the production of energy and in the liberalisation of the energy markets, require a substantial reorganisation. Research and development increasingly concentrate on local energy production with renewable energy sources, e.g. wind energy, biomass, solar energy and small consumer friendly thermal power plants as blocktype thermal power stations and fuel cells. Not only the process of conversion, but particularly the power line integration and the reorganisation of the power line will be analysed. Solutions, economical and technical, will be generated by networked competence.
Environmental Technology
In recent decades environmental protection has developed into an important economic and local factor. The high standards of the German environmental technology originate fundamentally from the ecological norms stringently regulated by law. The Federal Republic of Germany is at the forefront globally, next to the United States of America. More than 10,000 German companies offer environmentfriendly products as well as goods and services of environment protection, that is to say almost one in five traded environmentproduct on the global market. Most of the companies are small and mediumsized enterprises with a high level of specialisation. In Germany waste and sewage technologies, the classic fields of environmental technology, are dominating the field.
