Einstein exhibition opened in Bochum

On May 9, 2005 the exhibition "Einstein and the Universe" was opened in Bochum.

The travelling exhibition in celebration of the Einstein anniversary is organised by the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in co-operation with the local adult education centre and the Bochum Zeiss Planetary. Following the motto "Physik zum Staunen und Begreifen" (understanding amazing physics) the exhibition seeks to show the continuing significance of Einstein's ideas for modern technology today. Models, experiments and simulations will help visitors to understand that technical innovations such a lasers, navigation systems, solar cells or digital cameras would not work without Einstein's theories. Elaborate simulations as for example the model of the spaceship Columbia provide graphic demonstrations of physical theories and concepts not only for experts but certainly also for interested amateurs.
