Volkswagen Foundation supports German Innovation Center in Israel
The Volkswagen Foundation has agreed to support the North Rhine-Westfalia (NRW) Science Center in establishing a German Innovation Center in Israel.
The venture was initially launched on May 4, 2004, and is based at Israels Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC).
As Germanys scientific platform in Israel, the innovation center aims to promote links between universities in the two countries and encourage cooperation between researchers, politicians, academics and artists.
In addition, it is hoped the initiative will also help attract Israeli students to Germany.
When Israels top students are considering studying abroad, we want them to see that there are more possibilities than just the USA, said Professor Gert Kaiser, President of the NRW Science Center. We want to attract them to Europe, and in particular, to North Rhine-Westfalia.
