The Payoff for Studying Refrigeration Technology
eurammon presents Natural Refrigeration Award for Best Thesis Paper
eurammon is calling for submissions for the Natural Refrigeration Award 2005, a prize being awarded for the first time, for the best academic thesis paper on the subject of natural refrigerants. The Initiative for Natural Refrigerants is jointly hosting the 5,000 award with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and the Dutch trade magazine Koude & Luchtbehandeling. In addition, eurammon invites the winners to present their thesis paper to an international audience at an event hosted by the task group.
The Natural Refrigeration Award is our way of supporting young scientists and motivating them to do further research into refrigeration with natural refrigerants, says eurammon Chairman Holger König. In light of the current debate on climate, it is important to invest in sustainable technologies minimizing total emissions arising from refrigeration equipment.
All graduates of universities, technical and other colleges, and similar institutes of higher education whose thesis was submitted for a Master or Bachelor degree are welcome to apply for the award. The thesis paper must be devoted to the topic of refrigeration technology with natural refrigerants e.g. ammonia, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons or water and must have been graded between January 2004 and May 2005. The deadline for submitting application documents is 1 May 2005. Documents must include an English abstract, the completed application form, and the thesis paper itself. An international panel of judges from academia, business and the media will pick the winning entries for instance, the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences will help to rate the thesis papers. Prizes will be awarded in the fall of 2005.

About eurammon
eurammon is a joint European initiative of companies, institutions and individuals who advocate an increased use of natural refrigerants. As a knowledge pool for the use of natural refrigerants in refrigeration engineering, the initiative sees as its mandate the creation of a platform for information sharing and the promotion of public awareness and acceptance of natural refrigerants. The objective is to promote the use of natural refrigerants in the interest of a healthy environment, and thereby encourage a sustainable approach in refrigeration engineering. eurammon provides comprehensive information about all aspects of natural refrigerants to experts, politicians and the public at large. It serves as a qualified contact for anyone interested in the subject. Users and designers of refrigeration projects can turn to eurammon for specific project experience and extensive information, as well as for advice on all matters of planning, licensing and operating refrigeration plants. The initiative was set up in 1996 and is open to European companies and institutions with a vested interest in natural refrigerants, as well as to individuals e.g. scientists and researchers.
