The regions

The Federal Republic of Germany is composed of 16 federal states. Their structure is the result of the political and historical development and reflect today's economic structures only limited. In contrast the Initiative Kompetenznetze Deutschland uses a structuring into eight regions. The single regions are characterised by several economic similarities, especially by a typical, long-term grown economic structure.
