Intelligent lens design
The HumanOptics AG in Erlangen, a manufacturer of artificial lenses, introduced an innovative technology. Artificial lenses are most commonly used in cataract operations (Cataracta senilis) to replace the clouded lens of the eye. Due to natural aberrations of the cornea the images no longer focus well when the eyes are wide open. Thus at twilight people with artificial lenses experienced a reduced contrast.
Driving in the twillight - with and withour contrast enhanced lenses
The new intraocular lens MC X11 ASP is designed to focus the image independent of the size of the aperture of the pupil . The lens works like a funnel for the light and is so efficient that it will most likely replace the traditional lenses in the future.
Focused on Solutions- is the credo followed by HumanOptics AG, leading to a specific individual design of each lens for each patient in order to correct exactly his natural aberration. Using a high-technology computer system the path of the light is exactly calculated and simulated to optimise the results.The R&D department can demonstrated the visible improvement of the imaging.
